Every level ("strand") consists of a number of cells that you will need to rearrange into a target structure in several moves ("splices"). Picked it up during the Humble Bundle sale, finally got around to enjoying it. Worth a few bob for the chill-out session.. Music and atmosphere is great and the puzzles are decently challenging.. Splice is a nice little game.The puzzles flow together, and have enough to do with each other that you don't have the brick-wall problem you can have with puzzle games. From a simple setup you have a lot of interesting tricks to learn, and a lot of space to learn them.It's nice to play something so physical, and visual.Splice is an easy reccomend, even at full price.. Splice is a cute and quirky little puzzler, capable of providing frustratingly headscratching puzzles that most of the time will leave you feeling like a freaking genius when you finally crack them. The accompanying soundtrack will leave you with a serene feeling of relaxation and most likely give you a new appreciation for the piano. A brilliant little game for a fair price. In my review for Hook, I said I really appreciated games which shunn obvious tutorials to let players 'learn as they play'.Splice does exactly this too - problem is that after several minutes and a handful of puzzles I have NO IDEA WHATSOEVER what's going on and the limited help available sheds NO LIGHT AT ALL on it.Worse still, when the penny actually drops you realise there's actually very little skill or fun in solving the puzzles - most have a single solution and you can almost solve them as easily with trial-and-error.I don't get why they bothered with this - I mean it looks and sounds lovely but the puzzle itself is terrible.. Lack of VOLUME CONTROL ruins the game. Having to hear the music blasting full volume constantly is lazy software development.. Outstanding puzzle experience.8/10. Splice is interesting puzzle game with perfect handling and wonderful audiovisual processing.
